This guide will focus on scaling the Damage over Time aspect of the gem, or the “pods” as people tend to call them. Toxic Rain is an interesting skill gem and is able to be built around in multiple ways. Since Toxic Rain is one of the most popular builds both in league-starting and later environments, it is one of those guides that we felt could not be missing. It, technically, should still be one of the (if not the) best league starter out there. That being said, the build has a Absolute load of damage and its numbers are just the same as they were in 3.14-3.15. Sure, you could heavily invest into Spell Surpression but you would have to give up a ridiculous amount of Clear & Damage to do so. Sadly, it is incredibly hard to scale up any form of defense versus those in the current iteration of the game.

Those are particularly scary when they’re physical spells. I however feel like “Attacks” are generally not your biggest concern and the main intake of damage is from spells. It’s honestly really hard to “judge” the effective nerfs or buffs to defenses only from reading numbers in Path of Building.
